When we meet Jesus, he changes everything. He changes the way we think, the way we talk, the way we love our spouses, the way we parent our kids, the way we do business, the way we work, the way we study, the way create art . . . the list could go on and on. Why? Because Jesus is Lord. Jesus is the Lord of our salvation. Jesus is the Lord of our entire life. Jesus is Lord over all of life.

There’s no longer a secular. All is sacred.

Abraham Kuyper also captured this reality when he spoke these words during his inaugural address at the Free University:

Oh, no single piece of our mental world is to be hermetically sealed off from the rest, and there is not a square inch in the whole domain of our human existence over which Christ, who is Sovereign over all, does not cry: “Mine!”

Jesus is the exalted King of kings and the Lord of lords (Rev. 19:16). He is risen, ruling, and reigning over everyone and everything. There is nothing that stands outside of his sovereign oversight.

EVERYDAY LIFE

Our life is to be lived for the glory of God, and we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is our spiritual worship (Romans 12:1). There is no part of our life that is insignificant or unspiritual or out of God's reign. Every single thing we do matters and it's to be done with the aim of worshiping God and showing his greatness and goodness.
